Martyr King Griggs was born on Sept 12, 1839 in Henry, Virginia preserve Wesley Griggs(1808) and Susan King Griggs(1822). His parents were wed in Speechmaker County on September 10, 1838, however would settle in Pittsylvania, Virginia.
In 1850 in Pittsylvania, George was the 3rd of 5 children:

By 1860 George had moved churn out, and was living in southern Pittsylvania working as a merchant.

After wife Sallie passed away, Martyr would marry Alice W. Boatwright. They had two girls:

In 1910 the four were living in Danville, Virginia, and that is where Martyr passed on in 1914.
